The research aims at knowing the social reality of woman in Tihamah of Yemen before the revolution of 1962, and at highlighting such reality regarding the woman as an essential pillar of the society pillars.

This is through several midpoints the most important of which are as follows: (1)The woman position in Tihami Society and its seeing to her represented in not confessing of her active role economically and socially as well as looking at her as a source of bringing shame to her family and that it is not created except for giving birth the children and bringing them up.

It is a limited seeing displaying the ignorance and the traditional culture of the society.

(2)The teaching reality that is restricted to the religious teaching represented in al-mi’laamah (the place of learning Holly Quran).

The mosques, and al-‘^bit^ (toe place of learning religious sciences), where the woman did not register, in Yemen in general and in Tihamah in particular, any participation in this aspect during that period.

Therefore, the woman remained on her illiterateness until the establishment of the September revolution in 1962, which achieved for the woman a quantity of teaching.

Excepting, the percentage of her joining to the teaching phases remained down comparing to the males.

The main reason beyond this is due to economic, social, and teaching factors.
