The study addressed the role of Jordanian legislation to increase the flow of foreign direct investment in Jordan during the period (2004-2015) through an analytical and descriptive study.

The problem of the study stemmed from the fact that Jordan despite its legislation to many laws on foreign direct investment besides establishment of institutions related to it but had not been able to attract investment as anticipated due to several economic problems facing the country such as the deficit in both budget and the trade balance, as well as persistent inflation; besides a significant shortfall in electricity and water.

The most important findings of the study indicated that foreign direct investment flows into Jordan began to rise from (65) million dollar in (2004) to (3544) million dollar in (2006), the highest value for the duration of the study, the reason for the huge rise may be attributed to the promotional efforts made by the investment promotion agency to attract foreign investments; besides efforts and actions to reduce the approval and licensing period, reaching (14) days.

Alternatively, the reasons behind its fluctuations and declining after (2006) may be due to the global financial crisis, and the economic plight of Jordan.

The most important recommendation of the study call for continuing to issue laws related o foreign direct investment in order to provide a successful investment environment, which is able to attract more foreign direct investment and achieving economic development
