The study aimed to identifying the characteristics of the academic open data platforms, and their characteristics in the Arab environment, and monitoring the types of datasets they host, the rates of completeness, updating, Usability, and evaluation mechanisms by examining sixteen Arab academic open data platforms Which formed the final sample of the study, The study adopted the survey method based on the description and analysis method, as well as the use of the content analysis methodology, to monitor the most important characteristics and features of the academic open data platforms.

One of the most important results was the high achievement of open academic data platforms for some features, such as: Availability, accuracy, data formats, completeness, updating and utilization, were 85.42%, 78.73% and 68.30% respectively, and the low achievement of these platforms revealed some of their features such as: Research and retrieval, assessment and feedback, The results of the study showed that the two platforms of Prince Sattam University and King Khalid University are the highest academic open data platforms In standards achievements.

The study recommended that steps should be taken to establish an Arab portal for open academic data under the control of the Union of Arab Universities.

With the need to oblige Arab universities to follow the international standards in the provision of open data through the gates.
