Urban spaces inside Palestinian refugee camps were formed over time as a result of accumulative tissue that constitutes its urban and architectural history.

Urban camp area was affected by several social, economic and political determinants, since the emergence of the camps until now.

This research takes steps to investigate this phenomenon, and raises a key question about urban domain formation in Palestinian camps exploring its characteristics.

It aims to better understand the formation process of urban Palestinian camps, in order to improve the residential environment inside the camps, and to enhance the social, political and urban milieu.

The research adopts a general hypothesis that the formation of urban domain inside the camp was influenced by several different factors, which affected its urban morphology and produced a distinctive unique housing character.

The research is based upon analytical methodology using descriptive analytical methods invoking observation and questionnaires, as well as technical programs used in engineering analysis.

To illustrate the factors that formed the physical field of the camp The research identifies a typical sample of the population study (Jenin) by examining Hawashin neighborhood; a region demolished by the invasion of the Israeli occupying forces to Jenin refugee camp, which was entirely re-built later.
