This study investigates students' motives for enrolling in the major of library and information science at Jordanian universities from their point of view.

The effect of the variables of: gender, high school branch, type of university, high school average, GPA at university, and the region (place of residence) on students' estimates of the reasons for their enrollment in the major of library and information science at Jordanian universities was also discussed.

A questionnaire was distributed among a sample of of (377) library & information science students at the bachelor's level in Jordanian universities during the academic year 2016/2017.

Findings indicated that the degree of students' appreciation of their enrollment in the major of library and information science in Jordanian universities (personal, social, scientific, and economic) was moderate.

Results also indicated that there were no statistically significant differences at the level of (α = 0.05) between the mean averages of respondents due to the variables of gender, high school branch, type of university, high school average, GPA at university, and the region (place of residence)y.
