Economic development is closely linked to political development, social justice, respect for human rights and democracy.

This study aims at revealing this relationship and its extent in the Turkish development experience.

The historical approach has been used to trace the stages of the development experiment and their relevance to the political development and the promotion of democracy.

It also used the comparative approach to the development experiences of Turkish governments before the AKP took office in 2002 and beyond.

The study concluded that Turkey witnessed a comprehensive development renaissance at the beginning of the twenty-first century, taking an independent approach that balances modernity and subordination.

It also concluded that the AK Party invested the confidence of the Turkish people in the 2002 elections by working on developing the human and natural resources, distributing the revenues of development fairly, consolidating the principles of democracy, enacting legislation governing the civil state, and achieving the welfare of the Turkish people by bringing about comprehensive development and strengthening the status of the Turkish State.
