الملخص EN

Purpose-This study is focused on knowledge sharing behavior in the Information Science Department at King Abdul Aziz University in Jeddah.

This study aims to investigate the state of art for Information Science Department while using knowledge sharing in the internal and external environments.

This was to produce knowledge due to the criteria of "communicative competence", with using Benchmarking to compare to some good models in the world in future studies.

The methods of content analysis, drawing analysis and evaluative measures were used.

Originality- This study is considered as one of the beneficial studies in knowledge sharing behavior in the field of Information Science in Saudi Arabia.

Thus due to the lack of this kind of behavior and due to the inability of creating and generating knowledge based on competitive criteria among faculty members.

Unfortunately, Information Science Department still lacking textbooks for students, which led to the department to be high accredited in the world market.

This study also identified and analyzed major factors for knowledge-sharing among faculty members in King Abdul Aziz University in order to examine how those factors influence department wide knowledge-sharing.

These factors are considered very important tools for Benchmarking.

Practical implications-The study also added a scientific lead by designing some modules for further research to determine the suitability of this conceptof participation or knowledge in Arab environment as opposed to Western environment.

Those modules will help to find a mechanism to build and create knowledge, and to share among the faculty members of the Department of Information Science and help or encourage them to increase their productivity and innovationN Those modules also show some practical activities among any organized society.
