The study aims to investigate the current teaching methods, strategies and their justifications in light of some variables used by the faculty members of Imam Abdul Rahman bin Faisal University.

The study used a questionnaire containing two axes.

The first axis measures the use of present teaching strategies and methods by the faculty members, and the second gauges the justifications for their use.

The questionnaire was administered to a sample of 104 faculty members.

Results showed that the range of current methods and strategies being used in general was medium.

The strategies of dialogue, discussion, supporting lecture and brainstorming were the most frequently used while both educational games, targeting field visits and laboratory works, were among the least used.

The most important reasons for choosing a teaching strategy from their point of view reside in their role in controlling the classroom, arousing students’ motivation, course appropriateness and the place.

Results also showed statistically significant differences in the use of teaching strategies due to specialty, but no differences were due to gender and experience.

Yet, there were no differences in justifying the use of teaching strategies due to specialization, gender and experience
