This paper describes the policies pursued by Indonesia in its attempt to attain growth through providing financial support to MSMEs.

The Indonesian experience in providing financial support to MSMEs is one of the most successful experiences in the world.

The financial support programs offered by the government and private sector have enabled MSMEs in Indonesia to overcome many of their funding difficulties, and have made them a central player in the economic development of the country.

MSMEs occupy an important place in the Indonesian economy; they account for 99.99% of existing business enterprises in Indonesia, employ 97.02% of the total workforce across the country, contribute almost 60% of its GDP and account for 14.17% of the total value of non-oil exports.

Although no country can succeed by following mechanically the experience of another country, adapting the experiences of others to the cultural, social and economic particularities of the country, flexible policy-making, rapid feedback and integration of the efforts of MSMEs managers with the efforts of the government and private sector, can be helpful.
