This study aimed at identifying the Common mistakes in reliability and validity procedures of the measuring tools used in the Arabic educational research.

The procedures of reliability and validity of the measuring tools used in a sample of 72 papers published in 2012 and 2016 in the Journal of the Islamic University for Educational and Psychological Studies were evaluated.

The number of measuring tools used in these researches was 92 tools 85% were created by the researchers.

Twelve frequent mistakes were detected in reliability procedures and nine repeated mistakes were detected in validity procedures.

The most frequent method of reliability was the internal consistency including split-half method, Alpha coefficient and Kudar – Richardson.

The most frequent method of validity was the content related validity with the percentage of use alone or with other methods 77% without applying any quantitative method of estimation the content validity index.

More than half of the researches used the method of "internal consistency" as a method of measuring validity.

The study clarified the difference between using the "internal consistency" method to detect validity and using it to detect reliability.

The study recommended creating an analytical rubric to assess the accuracy of reliability and validity procedures.
