Abstract EN

Ahmad Shawqi got an outstanding place in the field of poetry and literature because of his great and varied productions for around forty years.

Ahmad Shawgi was not only a poet Laurate and leader but he was also a talented creative poet.

This may be attributed to the years he spent in France where he had an access to the literature of that society and he knew new literary forms, especially in novel and drama.

The reader of his different literary works realizes that Ahmad Shawqi worked hard and he did his best in fictional, dramatic and poetic writings.

Depending on a critical and analytical reading for the poem (Aba Alhawl), the researcher attempted discovering the characteristics of the narrative discourse in that poem.

The study begins with the title of the literary text as it has a semantic value in revealing the whole text and it ends with discovering the techniques of the narrative discourse.

The methodology employed in this research is the analytic method, which follows the text in its inner structure.
