Civil society, in its different bodies and movements, plays a leading role in activating and strengthening the Euro-Mediterranean dialogue.

This is due to the fact that the Mediterranean has been the cradle of several civilizations of the past.

Therefore, the civil society movements in the region are striving in various ways and means to promote dialogue between the cultures of the Mediterranean countries.

The aim of this paper is to examine the role that these movements can play in the promotion and the success of the dialogue, as a central and an international means, on both sides of the Mediterranean.
