Abstract EN

This study aims to shed light on the higher education and scientific research in Algeria and track the stages of its development since the independence to this day.

We have tried to clarify the sources of funding that higher education in Algeria benefits from, which is mostly government funding, .

And we have searched into the problems that face the financing process under the current reforms.

The study showed that the financing process of higher education in Algeria relies entirely on the government funding, and that process is facing several problems.

the study recommended that there is an urgent need to pay more attention to the higher education, and to diversify the sources of funding oriented to it.

And it recommended also to develop national strategies for scientific research that create multiple funding sources of higher education suitable to the objectives planned.
