Abstract EN

This study aims to examine the position and importance of the integration of developing countries in general, and Algeria in particular in global value chains, which have become the expression of the pattern of production that characterizes the global economy in the 21st century.

The study found that developing countries account for a large share of production processes in global value chains, which is the case of Algeria, which has a high rate of participation in global value chains, but the nature of this participation lies in the upstream activities far more than the downstream activities, where those upstream activities are concentrated in the exports of energy, which deprives it from upgrading in these chains or gives them a small space to achieve this.

This situation requires the need to search for ways to take advantage of the chains and upgrade within them.
