Abstract EN

After the second half of the 20th century, the world become aware of the issue of environmental pollution and its great dangers.

It is not a local issue, it is a global cross –border issue and efforts are being made to cooperate in order to reduce its risks.

The multilateral international environmental agreement are one of the forms of international cooperation in combating environmental pollution.

these agreement have been held under the auspices of the united nations since 1972 to combat environmental pollution in all its forms.

This paper addressed the issue of multilateral international environmental agreement as an important part of achieving environmental security, which is part of national security in general.

The above mentioned conventions are considered one of the solutions that tackle the environmental challenges facing Iraq by oroviding technical solutions including the reconstruction of the technical capabilities of Iraqi cadres and institution.

Furthermore, theses conventions can provide the Iraqi environment with legal cover in terms of the development of domestic law and the international legal protection of the Iraqi environment and they can strengthen the Iraqi political situation at the international level.
