Abstract EN

This study is a semantic etymology of the term "alfatraa" in standard Arabic use during the age of controversy.

It tries to trace its semantics as proposed by early and late Arab scholars.

This study also traces its use in modern authorship.

The term has apparently gone through huge linguistic development in its meaning.

The origin of its meaning indicates disconnection, weakness, and vanishing.

Quran used that to indicate disconnection of messengers in certain time.

Then, it was used to indicate the time of ignorance.

From these two directions, its use was developed in modern ages to indicate time in general.
