Summary: The public sector is one of the most important actors in achieving economic development.

However administrative practices in many countries of the world have shown some abuses that have hindered the achievement of the objectives of economic development, There was a need to apply governance in order to avoid hindering development.

so our problem: how can public sector performance be achieved through governance? What are the challenges of applying them in Algeria? The study aimed at achieving two points.

The first was to highlight the importance of implementing governance in the public sector.

The second was to show the reality of governance in Algeria and to find the most important obstacles to its implementation.

In order to achieve these objectives, we addressed the main requirements of public sector governance as a prerequisite for economic development.

We then presented the realities and challenges of governance in Algeria through the Global Governance Indicators 2000-2014.
