This research paper addresses the issue of the pharmaceutical industry investment in Algeria, as one of the alternatives to economic development to get out of the oil dependency, Especially after the oil crisis of 2014, Where the authorities aimed at reducing the import bill, where medicines and drugs represent a large portion of it, Given the great social role of the State in the health sector by providing medicine free to a large part of citizens, It became a large consumption material.

Therefore, The Algerian authorities must open the field of investment in the pharmaceutical industry by improving the regulations and laws related thereto.

In this research, we will uncover the reality of the pharmaceutical industry in Algeria and to address its ever-changing legal regulations, the latest of which is the Health Act No.

18-11 of 20 July 2018, the mechanisms of investment in the industry and the obstacles facing it.

This study concluded that the legal framework of this industry needs to be updated and that more attention should be given to scientific research as it is its basis along with the high technology and the state support for this strategic sector.
