Abstract EN

If Asouf & Arigh were the first regions which had embraced and supported the Ibadit ideology since the Rustami era (160- 296 Hidjri); after the fall of Tehert in 296 Hidri, they became one of the important stronghold of Ibadia in the Maghreb and started holding a special place in the Ibadit ideology.

Without the emergence of the Sahara metropolis, the Ibadit Ideology was nearly vanished; at the forefront of them, there were the metropolis of Arigh & Asouf where the Ibadit society found their only respite to save and keep going their doctrine.

Since then, the role of the medieval Maghreb’s metropolis was emerged in the history of Maghreb, which was exclusively reserved to the Northern cities.

The Ebadit presence in these metropolis had revamped its intellectual and scientific life, as a result, it stood out with a constellation of scholars who was preserved with the Ibadit biographies.

Therefore, we want to study the role of Asouf & Arigh metropolis, as an initiative to study later the Sahara metropolis and to show its role in the history of medieval Maghreb.
