Abstract EN

This study aims to clarify the influence of the revolutionary movement on the evolution of Constitutional consciousness, and also to diagnose the "new social groups" interested in the constitutional process.

The process of establishing the January 2014 Constitution in Tunisia is significant for at least two reasons: on the one hand, it is the first constitution resulting from the revolutionary movement in the region.

On the other hand, since it generated controversies, which transcended the limits of the National Constituent Assembly.

Indeed, we have seen the commitment of large popular masses, until now, far removed from political participation in general and constitutional issues in particular.

In this context, we saw the emergence of a populist discourse, adopted by many political and partisan forces and where the constitutional debate was instrumentalized for political mobilization.

Constitutional articles related to the relationship between religion and the state, as well as, the question of equality between women and men represented the circle of debate within the National Constituent Assembly and especially outside it.

These public debates dominated by the populist character and the simplistic analyzes have certainly popularized the constitutional culture, but also to the deterioration of the political consciousness.
