Abstract EN

This paper reviews the contents and amendments adopted by the Basel Committee on Banking Supervision through the Basel III decisions, clarifying the fundamental differences compared with the Basel II decisions, as well as the transition path for the implementation of the new decisions; Arab banking systems, whether they are related to additional capital requirements to cope with business cycle fluctuations, liquidity risk management or macro prudential policies.

These requirements came in order to avoid the weaknesses and gaps created by the global financial crisis in order to enhance the solvency of banks and their ability to face risks, and therefore are expected to positively affect the safety and durability of banks, especially banks in Arab countries.
