Abstract EN

This study aims to investigate the impact of the Coronavirus Covid-19 pandemic on the prices of unsupported foodstuffs in Algeria during the first half of 2020, to achieve the objectives of the study, many statistical data issued in the report of the local and international official bodies were extrapolated, where it was classified and analyzed to draw conclusions and make recommendations in light of that.

The results of the study showed that the food market in Algeria witnessed stability in prices after the outbreak of the pandemic until the end of the first half of 2020, while the impact of the pandemic was more evident in global food markets, where prices tend to increase, and this may be reflected in the coming period on the local market, especially with regard to imported food commodities, based on the results, the study recommended a number of recommendations, the most important of which are: Establishing a safety stock of imported basic food commodities and moving towards large-scale investment in agriculture.
