Abstract EN

Through the semantic field theory, this research attempts to extrapolate the poetic lexicon in the collection of (Professions of Cruelty) by the Lebanese poet Bassam Hajjar, it is an elegiac collection written in a condensed and suggestive language, the study aims to trace the Divan vocabulary and arrange them into semantic fields, to show the diversity of semantic fields and Semantic relationships in single field words.

With an investigation of Bassam's poetic potential in choosing expressions of the psychological state, this research benefited from the statistical approach in monitoring expressions and identifying the most prominent fields, while making use of the descriptive and analytical approach to study semantic relationships and analyze them.

The research included semiotics of the title threshold, it is followed by a monitoring of the main fields: the human body-field, the field of nature, and the home field.

It is followed by the subfields: the field of affection, the field of death, the field of path, and the field of religion.

The results of this study led to the clarification of the poet's linguistic dictionary who embodied his psychological state, aggravated by loss.

The effects of the psychological state associated with the tragedy of death were reflected in the dark and gloomy poetic vocabulary represented by the effects of the shock of loss, in the pain of remembrance, and the dreariness of the place.
