English Abstract

Price policy is one of the most important economic policies implemented by the State to increase and improve agricultural production on the one hand and to provide food for all members of the community at an encouraging price for producers and suitable for low-income consumers.

The study of the economic and standard analysis of the price policy of the barley barley strategic in Iraq and its impact on the vertical and horizontal expansion of the period (1990 - 2013).

(Y), the independent factors (X) were the local production, domestic consumption, the benchmark price, the subsidy policy (the nominal protection factor) and the global dollar price.

The time series data were used to estimate this phenomenon, To achieve the best results, a standard model was applied in four variants (linear, half logarithmic, logarithmic, inverse, and double logarithmic).

The strongest functions were based on their preference and superiority in terms of statistical and standard tests.

The results obtained were that the local production (X1) of the barley crop was negative and not significant, while the local consumption (X2) was positive and not significant, and this corresponds to economic logic, and the significance of the price index variable was found to be positive (X3) ), As well as the support policy variable with a positive and non-significant value (X4), and a positive and moral reference to the global price variable (X5) in the studied crop..

The study concluded with a number of conclusions and recommendations, including: The policy of support (nominal protection coefficient) had a positive and not moral impact on the index, indicating that the protection was not rewarding for the standard prices throughout the study period.

The study also reached a number of recommendations, the most important of which was the expansion of the cultivated areas of this crop and the work to give more attention to increase productivity and production because of its great importance for livestock.
