Abstract EN
The Year 1479 marked the beginning of the end of the Arab presence in Andalusia following the unification of the Spanish throne (Aragon and Castile) under the reign of Isabella I (1474- 1504) and her Husband Ferdinand II (1479 - 1516).
The effects of the mass displacement of Muslims and the displacement of large numbers of them to the north of Africa come to the fore as there are many social and economic problems in these areas, including the large numbers of sailors, so emerged the movement of jihad maritime.
Thus the new forces adopt in their jihad hit and run policy because of the lack of Its ability to engage in a conventional war against forces that are far more numerous in terms of possibilities.
The previous reasons encourage Spain to seek to transfer its virulent war against Muslims to North Africa.
This trend sets the main feature of Spanish politics during the Sixteenth Century, but the Spanish leadership has its reasons in choosing the Algerian ports as bases for the Mujahideen's ships in addition to its economic importance.
