The research was done to estimate the volume of respondent farmers' knowledge gap that is related to the environmental and technical recommendations in the field of protecting agricultural environment, determine the relationship between the volume of knowledge gap as dependent variable and the studied independent variables, to identify the obstacles that face respondents in terms of protecting the agricultural environment at the research area; .

And there ideas to solve such problems from their point of view.

The research was carried out at Abu Stael village, Sidi Barany district, Matrouh Governorate on a random sample of 216 respondents representing around 43.6% of the total farmers at the research area.

Data were collected using a questionnaire form by the interview during the period from January to March 2016.

The most important results were as follows: The study results showed that 44% of the total sample fell under the medium category of the indicator of farmers' volume of knowledge gap that is related to the technical extension recommendations in the field of protecting agricultural environment at the study area, around 30.5% came under the high category and about 25.5% came under the low category of the total research sample.

The results revealed by using x2 test that ten variables affecting the volume of knowledge gap of the research sample that are related to protecting agricultural environment as a dependent variable explained about 35% of the total variance in knowledge gap of research sample that is related to protecting agricultural environment.

Those variables were: age of the respondent, respondent's education level, size of agricultural holding, respondent's experience of agricultural work, age of the respondent's wife, family kind, respondent's monthly income, respondent's attitude toward agriculture work, number of family members, finally the degree of respondent's voluntary social participation.
