Abstract EN

This study aims at detecting the impact of asylum in the formation of gender violence experience in the life of Syrian female refugees outside refugee camps in Jordan.

This is carried out by examining the most prominent forms of violence to which Syrian female refugees are exposed to from their husbands, in addition to the violence to which Syrian female refugees are exposed to from the hosting community and to clarify the relation between the female refugees’ receiving aids and their silence towards violence and abuse from the host community.

The study used the qualitative approach to achieve its aims.

The study was conducted on purposive sample of (50) Syrian women refugees who reside outside the Syrian Asylum camps.

The interview manual used as the study tool during the interviews with the women.

Results have shown that most refugee women residing outside the camps were exposed to gender-based violence from their husbands as a result of the tension of the surrounding situation, in addition to the husband complete inability of spending on his family, and the women’s participation in the daily expenditure and income.

The most women preferred to condone this abuse practiced by the asylum country community because they receive aids and because they feel vulnerable as they don’t live in their homeland.
