A century after its foundation, how does sociology elaborate its fundamental epistemological programmed? Although this question might seem ambitious, it is both legitimate and urgent.

Legitimate, because reflections on the epistemological status of sociology have been undertaken throughout its history; urgent, because contemporary relativism and skepticism have tended to exacerbate the issues.

This thesis attempts to understand how sociology has addressed this challenge in the past ten years.
