Abstract EN

The study aims to identify principles of designing an educational website and measuring its effect on students’ achievement for teaching the course of “Using Computer in Education” at Ista’e University.

To answer the questions raised by the study, an educational website has been designed.

Also an achievement test has been developed and its validity and reliability has been verified.

The study sample consists of (50) students of “Using Computer in Education”.

It has been divided into two groups (an experimental one and a controlling one).

In applying the procedures of the study and using the appropriate statustical measures, the study has shown the following results : -Designing and developing a website course draws upon various educational theories (such as structural, behavioral, epistemological) or the mingling between more than one theory, or the designer adopts the philosophy of system approach dependent on the inputs, processes, outputs, integrated and interactive feedbacks.

-Designing an educational website demands a special educational design observing certain technical qualities known in website designing.

Also the designing of a good educational site has an effective role in the learner’s acquisition of knowledge and skills.

-There are certain basic constructions that can be used to enter the pages of the website.

-The conclusions of the study show there are statistically significant differences among the total marks of students that can be attributed to the educational website.

These differences tilt to the experimental group.

The study has the following recommendations :- -It is necessary to take into consideration the educational and psychological bases and the special technical qualities that the designing of educational material depends, when designing an educational website.

-It is necessary to make use of the internet as aids in educational curriculum.

-There is a need for adding a course entitled “Designing Internet Curriculum” in the courses of the faculties of educational sciences.

One of its items should be the manipulation of this service in education, research and communication.
