Abstract EN
This study was limited to the types of the sacrificing altars which had been used in the Assyrian ages ( the fixed and movable ones ), because before this age there were many types of sacrificing altars with different shapes.
The whole information related to altars scenes came from two sources, The first source was the art scenes on the Assyrian sculptures and the second source was uniform texts.
The study of the art scenes showed the shapes of the Assyrian sacrificing altars and the material which the altars made from.
Different shapes of altars had been appeared on the Assyrian art works, and this will give us a motive to know the reason for using altars and the erection techniques.
Altars had been used for supplicating and submitting sacrifices to gods.
Altars had been made from stones and some time from wood, the fixed ones were used inside the temples while the movable ones were used by the army during Assyrian military expeditions.
