Abstract EN

This study aims to highlight the developmental role of desert tourism in achieving both economic and social development, as well as to addressing the most important possible strategies for the development of desert tourism in Algeria for the local development of the Great South, which is the natural and civilizational potential, tourism transport, institutional and legislative structure, planning and tourism investment, and then analyze some local development indicators during the period 2018, 2019.

The study concluded that the contribution to tourism development to achieving the economic development goals is still weak, as its contribution to GDP was estimated at 7%, as well as its contribution to employment only 3% of the total employment, and showed a deficit in the tourism balance by 30%.
