Abstract EN

The study aimed to identify the self-esteem of basketball players, to identify some of the personality traits of basketball players, to identify self-esteem and its relation to some personal characteristics of basketball players.

The researcher relied on the descriptive approach that is appropriate in dealing with this subject through analyzing the data The descriptive approach is more suitable for research purposes, through which the relationship between self-esteem and its relation to some of the personality traits of basketball players is identified.

The results of the study included (10) basketball players from the team of the Faculty of Physical Education and Sports Science / University of Diyala were selected exclusively.

The researcher concluded in the light of the results reached during this study there were significant differences and high degree between the two measures of self-esteem and some features Personal among basketball players.

There is a correlation between self-esteem and some personal traits among basketball players.

The researcher recommended the need to pay attention to psychological guidance and educational guidance in the colleges by strengthening their level of self esteem by preparing a program that helps students in faculties of physical education and sports sciences to choose the appropriate games for them.
