The objective of the current research is to find out the level of students' attitudes towards the teaching profession at the College of Basic Education - University of Diyala and to find the differences between the average mean of research sample responses according to the variable of the specialization (scientific - human) and the gender variable (male - female) For the academic year (2016-2017) in the second course.

The researchers used the attitude scale towards teaching profession as a tool for the current research.

It consisted of (24) items and the results were extracted by the appropriate statistical means.

The sample of the study reached to 868 students.

The study came up with the following results: 1.

The attitudes of students at college of Basic Education towards the teaching profession of education was positive at medium level.

2.

There are statistically significant differences between the mean of the responses of the research sample at the level of significance (0.05) according to the gender variable (male - female) in favor of females.

3.

There are no statistically significant differences at the level of significance (0.05) depending on the variable of specialization (scientific - human).

4.

There are no statistically significant differences at the level of significance (0.05) depending on the variable of stage (first - second - third).

The researchers reached to a number of conclusions: 1.

The impact of the central admission on the students' attitudes students towards teaching profession , which is based on the total average of students only when they accepted at the colleges of basic education, which led to the lack of students to have high or very high attitudes towards teaching profession.

2.

The lack of appointment grades assigned to the of teachers compared to the number of graduate students which led to the lack of students to have high or very high attitudes towards teaching profession .

3.

Students believe that teaching profession comes at a late salary compared to other professions which provide greater financial returns more than teaching profession.

4.

The belief of the female students that teaching profession does not require a great physical effort, as well as it takes a specific time, in addition to that after the end of the official working hours, the female teachers can do her home work in addition to the official holiday in the middle and end of the academic year which makes the work of the teaching profession has an advantage over other professions
