Abstract EN

This research aims at exposing efficiency of Teaching by Higher Order Thinking Skills according to teaching thinking within the epistemological content of biology text book to develop critical thinking of scientific fourth class .

The researchers adopt high order thinking skills that education literature agrees on .

Critical Thinking is regarded as high ranked .

Tow groups were chosen randomly ( 63 ) girl pupil so that one experimental group be subjected to teaching according high rank thinking skills .

As for the other group , it has been taught according to the ordinary method of control group after doing suitable equivalences to make sure of equivalence of tow group .

The teaching plans followed in the tow groups were shown to experts in the subject and methodology and psychology .

Besides a critical thinking test was constructed according to the skills identified by Watson and Classer for critical thinking .

After testing the validity and stability of the test , it was applied to the tow groups of the research before starting actual teaching .

When the experiment was over , the test of post critical thinking was applied .

The results show that there are statistically significant differences gained to post test and the experimental group that the value of differences between averages ( 2.33 ) in comparison with the tabled that reached ( 2 ) which signifies development in critical thinking especially for the experimental group , the efficiency of teaching by Higher Order Thinking Skills in adopting ( η2 ) which reaches ( 0.08 ) a ratio that signifies efficiency for the independent variable .

The researchers suggest that these thinking skills to be adopted to build activities and questions to develop this important kind of thinking.
