Abstract EN

This research tackles and analyzes all the hadiths mentioned in prohibition on naming or giving a name that implies commendation or praise.

It aims to indicate their ranks in terms of being sahih ("authentic") or da'if ("weak") and detail (trace the origins) of their significance/ denotation.

The approach employed is the inductive deductive approach,which is to examine all the hadiths in this matter and their classification (rank) and approach the views of Scholars on them.

The paper concluded that the hadiths in this matter are five hadiths, the isnad (narrators who have transmitted the report) and the different narrated texts (wordings) of which have been indicated.

The Conclusion: The permissibility of naming or giving a good name that implies commendation or praise; out of optimism that the bearer of such name will resemble it.

It is permitted to give names such as (Baraka, Nafi’, Aflah, Rabah and Yassar) and their related meanings.

However; Pessimism shall not fall for not giving such names.
