Abstract EN

This study aims to investigate relationships between Alexithymia and some Psychogical and Demographic variables of Special Education Department students of King Khalid University.

The relationships include Alexithymia and self-esteem and between Alexithymia and perceived self-efficacy.

Also, the study examines the differences between the elder students and the younger students in Alexithymia and the differences among the students according to Academic Specialization (learning disabilities- mental retardation – visual impairment) in Alexithymia.

A sample was chosen consists of (131) students of Special Education Department of King Khalid University.

For data collection the researcher used Alexithymia Scale (prepared by the researcher), Self -Esteem Scale (Eid, 2013) and perceived self-efficacy Scale (Jerusalem and Schwarzer, 1993).

The statistical methods used for data analysis were: Person's correlation coefficient, Mann-Whitney Test and Oneway Anova.

The researcher used the SPSS program for statistical analysis, the findings are: There is a correlation between Alexithymia and Self -Esteem of Special Education Department students of King Khalid University.
