Abstract EN

The present paper aims to study the role of image stories in the development of environmental awareness in children suffering from mental disabilities.

The study included 20 children with mental disabilities between the ages of 9 and 13, and their intelligence ranged from 55 to 70 degrees ( on the Columbia Mental Matury Scale).

The children followed a training protocol that includes three successive phases: The first, the pre-test allows to evaluate the initial level of environmental awareness skills with standardized tests of the Child Environmental Behaviour Assessment Scale (Wafa Salama), in the second phase we applied the learning program which consists in reassessing the level of environmental awareness.

Research results indicate that there are differences in the average scores of children before and after the application of the learning program, these data shows the effectiveness of the applied program.
