Abstract EN

Islamic social finance is one of the most effective means of contributing to the achievement of economic empowerment by means of diverse methods, both charitable and profit-seeking.

It is especially relevant in light of the poverty and unemployment that Arab and Islamic societies suffer from.

In this context, this study delineates the concept, characteristics and importance of Islamic social finance.

It also highlights the concept of economic empowerment, its importance, the Islamic vision of it, and the obstacles to it.

It shows how Islamic social financing methods contribute to achieving it, how it shifts those whose economic empowerment is sought from being needy and dependent on others to being self-sufficient and selfreliant, how it contributes to the development process and contributes to achieving the goals of financial inclusion.

The study relies on the descriptive and analytical approach as it is consistent with the nature and objective of the research topic.

The study concludes that micro and small enterprises can be socially financed for economic empowerment through Islamic banks and financial institutions, zakat institutions and waqf institutions.

They can do so through non-profit Islamic charitable social financing in the form of interest-free loans, zakat, charity, and waqf, or through profit-seeking social financing.

However, the profitability should be modest to ensure the sustainability of financing.

The financing could be by exchange contracts and participatory financing in order to achieve social responsibility.
