Abstract EN

The paper investigates the role of fiscal and monetary policies in stimulating growth and employment in Arab countries in light of Covid-19 pandemic consequences using quantitative and qualitative techniques of analysis.

It utilizes several international indices such as OXCGRT index to assess the strength of the stimulus package undertaken by Arab countries compared with other countries.

It adopts the Principal Component Analysis (PCA) approach to examine contributions and relationships between different components constituting the package.

Moreover, it employs the fiscal multiplier approach to measure the changes in output due to changes in fiscal policy taking into consideration structural characteristics of domestic economies that magnify or weaken its value.

The paper finds that the stimulus fiscal and monetary packages undertaken by Arab countries play significant role in mitigating the effects of Covid-19 crisis and stimulating output growth
