This study aims to identify the role of Saudi universities, Tabuk University as case study, in providing graduates with the knowledge, skills, and capabilities required by giant development projects such as the NEOM project.
The views of a sample of faculty members, students, and administrators at the university are explored to identify the most important individual skills and characteristics, awareness-raising procedures for work requirements in the project, aspects of education and learning resources, and efforts to encourage scientific research for faculty, students, and support services that the university can provide to improve the level and efficiency of its graduates to be suitable for jobs in the NEOM projects.
The data are analyzed through the use of a set of statistical methods, including: frequencies and percentages, standard averages and deviations, and mono-variance analysis, Scheffe' Test for dimensional comparisons and others.
The results confirm the importance of the university's role in contributing effectively to meeting the needs of work in NEOM Economic region projects by focusing on developing the skills and individual characteristics of students and graduates, as it also found that the respondent category plays a role in the respondents’ views regarding these arrangements, while the respondent’s gender does not affect the different views.
A number of proposals and recommendations are presented to the university administration to be adopted in the field of developing policies to improve the level of graduates to be able to meet the requirements of the future job market based on projects that require distinct skills, capabilities, and work values centered on perfection and commitment to quality standards.
