Abstract EN

This paper analyzes the self-disclosure preferences of students in secondary schools in the United Arab Emirates.

Two methods for gathering information were used on a sample of 304 students.

The first method was a self-disclosure inventory questionnaire for adolescents (West; Zingle, 1969).

The second was the Myers-Briggs Type Indicator (MBTI).

Multiple analysis of variance was used to conduct statistical analysis.

The results of the paper indicate that there is a significant relationship between (1) the preferred target for self-disclosure (father, mother, friend from the same sex, or school) and (2) a student's sex and a student's personality type.

There was also found to be no significant interaction effect between the student's sex and personality type and to analyze such differences when found.

A total of 300 students were given a questionnaire that was initially developed in Steptoe (1991).

The sample contained 201 females (67%) and 99 males (33%).

Both statistical inference and descriptive statistics were used.

The results of the analysis indicate that there are significant differences between German and Syrian students.

Some of these differences work to the favor of the Syrian students, and include the good habits of eating more fruits and getting enough hours of sleep.

Others go in the opposite direction, and include a failure to make regular visits to the doctor for checkups
