This study aimed to identify role of the social media in spreading the sports culture among students enrolled in the basketball and soccer courses.

Another purpose of the study was to identify students' motivation of using social media.

We aimed to explore whether significant diffrernces would exist according to (academic year، residence place، the rate of internet consumption per day، and course).

Study sample consisted of two hundred students (n= 200) from the factuly of physical education at Yarmouk unviersity who were selected randomly.The researchers developed a questionnaire that consisted (22) items distributed among three domains (social، technological، and cultural).

The mean، Standard Deviation and multivariate of analysis (MANOVA) ،Pearson correlation coefficient، Cronbach's alpha equation، Test (Scheffe) comparisons posteriori، Analysis of variance (ANOVA) to detect differences in the tool as a whole were used to analyze the data.

Study results showed that students' motivation of using social media were high in the field of technology and culture whereas medium level was achieved regarding social domain.

Additionally، significant differernces existed across all study variables (academic year، residence place، the rate of internet consumption per day، and course).
