The asymmetric impact of economic growth on unemployment in Algeria-testing the Okun's law : empirical study for the period 1980-2018

Abstract EN

The objective of this paper is to test the asymmetric effect between the change in unemployment rates (as a dependent variable) and the real economic growth (as an independent variable) according to the okun's law of the Algerian economy in 1980-2018 basing nonlinear Autoregressive Distributed Lag (NARDL).

empirical results confirmed the ence of the equilibrium relationship - the long-term relationship - which interprets the ence of okun's law The asymmetry test also shows symmetry in the long-term relationship, but empirical results shows that there is asymmetry in the short-term relationship.
