The economic activities in the modern era have been linked to the family as an economic institution that owns the capital, which is the basis form of production as an outcome of the economic system in its final phase of the development that is represented by Western societies for the last two centuries, this development have been accompanied by colonial practices that pushed the traditional societies to resist it with various forms, among which is a framed ideological presentation for the economic process, in this context, the article sheds light on the transitional stages that the Tlemcenian local economy witnessed, fueled by a group of notable families, as well as the broad lines that distinguished the various historical phases that this city went through economically, the repercussions of this latter on these families; therefore, its transgression on the development path of the city.
