It is also known that the vital role played by small industries is to meet the needs of the local market and reduce imports of similar goods, which improves the balance of payments situation, in addition to reducing unemployment and reducing poverty, as well as its great importance in increasing the growth rate of the industrial sector and the growth rate in general.

When studying the reality of small industries in Iraq, it became clear that the numerical indicators (the number of establishments, the number of workers) were their general trend indicating a decline due to the conditions after the year 2003, while the value indicators (wages and benefits, the value of production and its requirements) were indicating any rise due to higher wages The high level of prices and inflation.

By applying the main industrial performance efficiency standards to small industries, which are (total value added, labor productivity, wage rate, wage added value, and degree of industrialization), the results obtained were the achievement of an increase in both total value added, labor productivity, wage rate and non-wage value added, While it achieved a decrease in the degree of industrialization during the studied period, and this may not be considered a real development for those industries due to the high level of prices and wages, therefore we recommend the need for real support in order to play an important role in the process of economic development in Iraq.
