Cities have expanded rapidly in recent decades, It resulted in an irregular growth of city centers, resulting in the inability of cities to meet the requirements of the population In terms of community and infrastructure services, Among the most important obstacles in urban centers is the rapid population growth due to rural-urban migration, This migration has led to an increase in informal housing growth and urban sprawl towards agricultural areas.

As well as There are problems related to traffic congestion and environmental pollution due to this unplanned and irregular population increase and the lack of laws and controls that limit this migration and poor urban planning for cities to accommodate that increase.

And Afak city (Afak district center - study area), Is one of the district centers in the Iraqi province of Qadisiyah - suffering from these urban obstacles Which has become a major problem for its residents in terms of poor service delivery, Therefore, the research aims to reveal the obstacles of urban development and the possibility of developing solutions based on the available capabilities in the city.

Perhaps the most prominent of them is the work to develop community and infrastructure services And fixing Successful hubs for city expansion through the use of geographic information systems (gis).
