Alexithymia among university students in light of some demographic variables.

The aim of the research is to discover the nature of differences between males and females in Alexithymia among university students, to explore the differences in Alexithymia according to grade (first grade – Fourth grade), and to examine the differences between students in art and science specialization.

Study sample consists of 220 students from Benha University, aged 20-22 years.

The researcher used alexithymia scale, developed by Salah Iraqi (2006).

The results indicated that there are statistically significant differences between mean scores of females and males on alexithymia measure with its dimensions, in favor of females.

There are no statistically significant differences between mean scores of students specialized in arts and in science in alexithymia measure and dimensions, and there are no statistically significant in alexithymia according to academic grade (first – fourth grade).
