The reality of applying leadership 360 degrees to the heads of academic departments in Egyptian universities and their relationship to excellence management


The study aimed to identify the reality of applying the principles of 360-degree leadership by the heads of academic departments in Egyptian universities and their relationship to the management of excellence, in addition to revealing the differences about the degree of practice by heads of academic departments in Egyptian universities of the principles of leadership 360 degrees and management of excellence attributed to the study variables, and used the descriptive approach, and used a questionnaire composed Biaxial; The first is to reveal the degree to which heads of academic departments in Egyptian universities practice the principles of leadership 360 degrees, and the second is to reveal the degree of practice by heads of academic departments in Egyptian universities of the principles of management of excellence, and the number of its paragraphs reached 71 paragraphs and applied to a sample of 244 members of the faculty and university leaders in four Egyptian universities.

Ain Shams, Alexandria, Assiut and New Valley and among the most important results that it reached:
- The degree of availability of 360-degree leadership principles among heads of academic departments in Egyptian universities came in a moderate degree, with the arithmetic average of the axis as a whole reaching 3.3265.

- The degree of availability of the principles of excellence management among the heads of academic departments in Egyptian universities came in a moderate degree, where the arithmetic average of the axis as a whole was 3.2526.

Among the most important recommendations indicated by the study are the following:
- The requirement to obtain a certain number of training hours in the field of leadership and management and to pass them successfully is a prerequisite for appointing any administrative or leadership position at the university.

Selection of department heads based on criteria based on leadership skills and capabilities, regardless of the length of service, date of appointment, and academic degree, taking into account the experience factor.

- Work to establish a unit for the management of excellence within the Egyptian universities because it will have a role in promoting and raising the level of application of the elements of excellence management according to international models.
