The study aimed at revealing the effect of distance learning on developing personal and academic skills among students of the Faculty of Education at Al Qassim University in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.
The sample of the study consisted of (582) female and male university students of the Faculty of Education according to the variables of gender, academic level and specialization.
The A survey analytical method was used through applying a questionnaire consisted of (38) items divided into two domains, namely: personal skills, which included (18) items and academic skills, which included (20) items.
The results of study showed that the degree of distance learning impact on developing personal skills was high, while such impact on developing academic skills and on both domains of study as a whole were at moderate degree.
The results also showed that there were statistically significant differences among average estimates of individuals of the study sample on both domains of study (personal skills and academic skills) as a whole, due to gender variable in favor of (female) estimates, and due to the academic level variable in favor of the students estimates with the following academic level (first year and second year).
There were no statistically significant differences among average estimates of individuals of the study sample on both domains of study (personal skills and academic skills) as a whole, due to specialization variable.
The study has concluded a series of recommendations, the most prominent among which is: developing study plans for curriculum to develop academic skills among students during distance learning.
