Abstract EN

In this study We will try to know the causes of phenomenon os suicide through focusing on social factors; even though these are not the only influencing factors.

The socioeconomic mutations the Algerian society has known have created an environment adequate to delinquency mainly among youth.

In the context of those mutations, mainly the transformation from a planned economy to a liberal one; and because of the emergence of very wealthy social layers opposite to very poor ones, created a new form of poverty, " the disqualifying poverty" (Serge Paugam)..This disqualification results in an accumulation of handicaps (poor income, very precarious shelter, bad health, weak family sociability and solidarity networks).

Those results make individual feel meaningless existence or social uselessness.

This situation created an adequate environment to emergence of delinquent behaviours mainly among youth and teenagers.

In fact those behaviours started to expand among these layers according to the statistics of National Gendarmerie, Police and Civil Defence.

Thus, this issue is an attempt to reveal the main variables that push to suicide behaviour among Algerian youth.

In my study, I use a number of methodological procedures, among which:The use of the statistics of National Gendarmerie, to discover the development of this phenomenon in the Algerian society;Distributing a questionnaire to a sample of 115 individuals who already experienced suicide behaviour;Using the methods of quantitative and qualitative data analysis
